Q. What is an Online PlanRoom?
A. An Online PlanRoom is an application web site for managing, sharing and distributing project related images, drawings, and files. Users can create projects, upload documents and send invitations and notifications via email. Invited users can login and view the project information and documents using a web browser without any additional software or plug-ins. Users may also download documents and order prints if allowed by the project owner. Our Online PlanRoom includes advanced features for managing all project related activities including bid lists and responses, team members, discussions and more.
Q. What types of files can I upload and view?
A. Image files such as TIFF and JPEG are the safest file types to use. Adobe PDF and Autodesk DWF formats are also supported but may take slightly longer to view. CAD files such as AutoCAD DWG and MicroStation DGN may also work, but are more complicated and can contain links to XREF (External Reference) files that will also need to be uploaded. Most PLT plot files also view, as do office documents such as Word, WordPerfect and Excel files.
Q. What do I need on my end?
A. A web browser and an Internet connection - broadband is preferred but not required.
Q. Are my files secure?
A. Yes. The Online Plan Room Provides Secure Large Format Document Management, Construction Project Bid Management is both physically and digitally secure. All of our servers are located in a level 3 secure facility with complete redundancy and back-up systems. The software uses all of the latest user verification methods. Optionally, you may add a SSL (Secure Sockets Layer) digital certificate for authentication so that all data is transferred to and from the web site using 128 bit encryption preventing the data from being deciphered for unauthorized use.
Q. How fast is lightning speed?
A. Our viewer uses patented thin-client technology that processes the file on the server and only sends a small portion of the image to the client's browser. The advantages are two-fold 1) your files always remain in their naitive format and 2) users can view a 200mb color image or a 1kb black and white drawing with equal speed.
